ABOUT US

Triple Thread Apparel reconciles former offenders to society by developing self-worth and soft skills through employment and job-training in the production of quality custom shirts.

As a screen-printing social enterprise, Triple Thread ultimately works to reduce recidivism rates among former offenders, specifically residents of the Dismas House, a halfway house in Nashville, TN. A play on the phrase “triple threat,” the name symbolizes Triple Thread’s three-fold purpose:

1. Manufacture shirts at a level of quality such that customers would purchase from us regardless of the social benefit.
2. Employ and teach valuable job skills to Dismas House residents, empowering these men to build marketable resumes in a tough job environment.
3. Re-invest all net profits back into the Dismas House, developing a sustainable source of income.

Built into these objectives is a sustainable solution to the reluctance of employers in hiring ex-offenders. During residents’ tenure with Triple Thread, heavy emphasis will be placed on employment education including simple topics like arriving on time and more complex concepts like conflict resolution. Residents will also gain hands on experience in sales, inventory management, product development, problem-solving and effective business practices.

For jobless former offenders recently released from prison, Triple Thread provides immediate employment, job-training, eventual references, and distance from their crime. Studies show that allowing these men to save money and develop soft skills increases their likelihood of gaining full-time employment. This in turn reduces recidivism rates, crime rates, the world’s largest prison population, and law enforcement costs to society.

I am studying in the Dismas House right now with the ex-offenders who live here. They need jobs and can't wait for Triple Thread to launch!
