ABOUT US

Small organizations of all types express their intention to lessen their environmental impact, but still many do not. This made us ask one simple question. Why don’t the small organizations at least take the easy step of using environmentally friendly products? Through our research we found that there are two major obstacles that keep small organizations from making the switch. First, the search process for eco-friendly products frustrates small organizations. Second, eco-friendly products are more costly for small organizations that do not have a great deal of purchasing power. Ecco Living was started to remove these barriers.

People often complain that they do not know how to help the fight against climate change. Ecco set out to empower these people. We want to enable them so they can act today and see the environmental benefits immediately. It’s our belief that these simple changes in lifestyle and attitude can help spur further change and inspiration. Our customers have already saved 110 trees, 8,625 gallons of water, and 5,554 lbs. of waste. These results give them pride and hope, because they can make a difference today.

From the beginning, Ecco Living established the objective to remove the barriers of price and product investigation. First, we identified lines of cleaning, tissue, paper, and dining products that had the highest environmental attributes. This meant small organizations no longer had to research wide arrays of products and environmental standards before purchasing. Second, we began purchasing eco-friendly products in bulk allowing us to lower prices and create the Ecco Match Program where we match any eco-friendly product price to the conventional products small organizations are currently using.

Finally, our two-step social goal is not only to help small organizations make the switch to eco-friendly products but also to do our part. For every order we receive we make a donation to the Nature Conservancy on our client’s behalf to plant five trees in the Atlantic Forest in Brazil. Ecco Living has also engaged the Northwestern Community by helping lead the development of Green Green Cup 2010 (www.GreekGreenCup.com (We made the website too!), an event providing nearly $2000 in total grant money to be awarded to the fraternity and sorority with the least per capita consumption of electricity and water during the month of February.
