Shivani is the CEO & Founder of InVenture. InVenture unlocks affordable capital to half a billion people using mobile accounting and a proven financing model.

Shivani has a wide array of professional experiences in global health, microfinance, and investment banking. Prior to InVenture she worked health costing at UNFPA and Mergers & Acquisitions at Health Net and Citigroup.

She is a 2011 Echoing Green Fellow and 2011 Unreasonable Institute Fellow. She is also a blogger for the Huffington Post and has written on Microfinance 2.0 as well as small business growth in the U.S. She is also on the board of ReWork.

Shivani holds a M.P.H in Health Economics and International Policy from Columbia University and a B.A. in International Relations from Wesleyan University.

Position: Health Policy and Financial Consultant
Time period: September 2007 - Present
Description: Project leader for The Healthcare Environmental Assessment; developed project plan, timelines, created and delivered final presentations on to strategy teams and executive board.
Built a cost/benefit model for California region to inform prevention priorities for various populations and regions and drafted a prevention plan for high risk diseases within the state.
Developed a PDA and cell phone tracking/analytical tool for health workers and nurses in Mexico City and Nicaragua to better manage patient data and improve the quality of survey information.
Analyzed data obtained from 40+ interviews with clinics, testing sites, and health workers to assess their experiences and challenges on the job and drafted a document of potential improvements.
Mapped primary and reproductive health care delivery systems in Mexico City to improve clinic operations, and increase access and information of preventative services.
Project leader for the Three-Year Strategic Planning Process; designed the systems framework, created the 2010-2012 Strategic Model which projected resource allocations, as well as financial and operational metrics for every market segment, product and network indicator for all US regions.
Developed a cost/benefit model to analyze a Customer Solutions Initiative; assessed the $75 Million cost against net benefits for clients, growth in market share, and potential upside returns in Revenue.
Researched and analyzed strategic acquisitions, evaluating both financial (revenue growth, EBITDA margins) and qualitative criteria such as segment growth projections, potential synergies, strength of management teams, and the impact and risk of industry reform.

Position: Consultant, Microfinance and Health Programs
Time period: January 2007 - September 2007
Description: Developed an investment and microfinance plan to scale up primary health and education/vocational services in rural areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat, leveraging new methods of financing projects through microfinance, private funding, and through various grants and funding proposals.
Established links between companies, local NGOs, and technical partners, by organizing forums and coordinating trainings on increasing collaboration, co-investment, M&E and implementation of projects.
Planned workshops for group leaders and entrepreneurs on gender equality, credit management, accounting, marketing, and strategies for combating water-borne diseases, HIV/AIDS, and sanitation.
Provided wide-ranging technical support to SME and health projects to ensure programs were meeting community needs; included managing finances, daily project administration, proposal and project development, benchmarking, monitoring and evaluation.

Position: Analyst, Essential Supplies and Costing
Time period: May 2006 - January 2007
Description: Developed a costing model to quantify the gap between the supply/demand of health promotion and disease prevention supplies to meet the needs of countries through 2015, and to inform national health interventions, poverty-reduction strategies and policy briefs.
Analyzed data of 70+ countries to assess the total national expenditures on maternal and reproductive health and then worked with countries to set realistic targets to meet MDGs based on their current abilities.
Designed a youth costing model for Sub-Saharan African countries and researched and wrote memos on the economic effects of disease, social and environmental factors on youth and women.
Developed a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) guidance document to monitor the tracking of costs in country offices against projected budgets.
Harmonized UNFPA’s reproductive health tools and guidelines with WHO and developed methods to improve information sharing across UN organizations.
Used SPECTRUM to estimate population, commodities and impact of diseases, which improved the accuracy of UNFPA models.

Description: Analyzed process flows at a Provider organization to remove redundancies and improve revenue growth.
Researched and wrote white papers on health policy issues including access to care, rising medical costs for employers, wellness programs, healthcare IT, and physician and patient incentive programs.
Designed a reporting and management tool that assessed financial risks and losses at a major HMO.
Performed a executive committee benchmarking study to provide recommendations on how to improve a Payor organization’s executive structure, composition and function.
