FULL BIO
I was exposed to the importance of the natural world at an early age. Growing up in rural Northern California surrounded by rice fields and almond orchards, playing in the local creeks and streams, and abalone diving with my father, I learned early in life that nature was precious.
Sticking close, but not too close to home for my education, I received a BA in English from UC Davis with special focus on creative writing and teaching. My writing efforts culminated in the co-authoring of the book "Education Corruption in the State of California".
In 1997 I shifted career focus and moved to the Bay Area to work in the Silicon Valley as a web developer. Before joining the CALFED Science Program in May of 2004, I worked a number of unique jobs, including corporate mascot, bouncer, tide pool interpreter, commercial urchin diver, and ghost writer. In addition to my duties with the Science Program, I also freelance, focusing my efforts on open source content management systems, social media and data convergence.
When not staring a monitor pushing electrons around a screen, I can be found playing with my two sons, hooping it up in the Davis City League, chasing abalone, searching for good Thai/Indian food, hoping the Broncos don't implode yet again, planning to save the world with my dad and bro, lounging in my mothers pool, tasting the newest brew with my in-laws, or marveling at my incredible good fortune to have married such a wonderful woman.
